I am fascinated with green projects around the World and will hopefully be scouring the Net to give you a taster on what is going on around the Globe to help catapult us into sustainable living practices. Whenever I read up on a new project or about some new Eco village that has sprouted up somewhere on the Planet I get an adrenalin rush that kicks in and gives me a goo doe of excitement.
One such project that is giving me hope is the Dongtan Project in China, just outside of Shanghai. This humungous attempt to ecologically house over 300,000 local inhabitants is by far one of the biggest Eco projects to come forth yet. Although many condemn China for its high level of pollution it is taking measures to alleviate this concern day by day and the Dongtan Building project is testament to this and as British Engineers will get into high gear in 210 when the project will actually be officially launched this will mean greater cooperation between Occident and Orient in all things green and friendly. There have been mixed reviews about it but at the end of the day a Green Dongtan is better than some old and murky coal infested city right?

I found a really clever gift idea which not only helps the environment but is also aimed at offsetting carbon emissions for those special occasions that we all hope to have acess to. If you have a happy couple getting married you could give them the voucher for offsetting their honeymoon costs and they also get a car sticker and fridge magnet to boot which will remind them of their special day. There are offsetting gift certificates for all types of people ranging from the Gap Year to a round the World flight. I will be purchasing these for relatives of mine on their birthdays next year as they are not too expensive ranging from around £12.50 that’s around $25.00. I also think it is a good way of spreading awareness of Green issues and Global Warming.
You can take a peek at these clever green gifts here and see what you think about it all.

There are small and cost effective ways to go Green. We don’t have to spend a fortune on Wind Energy or Photo volteics to begin with if we don’t have the means. What I mean is by starting small we can make a hell of a difference to the way we think and act. I started with just changing one daily habit of mine and that is I never use plastic non biodegradable shopping bags anymore. I have purchased for a small price three recycled bags which I use now for all my shopping needs. I even get some cash back or extra points from various shops just for re using my green bags. The bags I bought are actually recycled from plastic bottles which is quite cute.
It only takes a change of heart to make a difference and this is just one small contribution to the green not mean campaign but it is always better than nothing. Actually it is even better than polluting our Earth with more plastic carrier bags. So if you are reading this, just ditch your plastic polluting bags for a greener alternative. It won’t cost you the Earth but you will be contributing to saving it.

Welcome kind readers to my new place of greener blogging. I hope you will enjoy the journey as well as the Destination as I embark on getting greener and delving into my ‘envirothlon project’ which means the race is on to change the World from Mean to Green.
First and fore most is the taking of action and responsibility for our own actions without just waiting for everyone else to take the snake out of the hole as we say in Greek. In whatever way, great or small I would like to see the World get cleaner and greener and it is up to all of us to do it. Let’s not pass the buck future generations or keep blaming our predecessors for making things a bit murky. Let’s just get on with it and make it fun in the process.
I am going to be brutally honest that every dime I earn through blogging will be put into green use and every month I will myself be giving you an account of what I do with the moola invested in me through my labour and literary skills..or lack of them!
My ultimate dream is to develop Eco communities, villages and towns, but hey at the moment I better clean up my act big time before I can go that far. I have to start from some where and you can too. I hope to bring you little and larger ways in which you can turn your living machine from mean to green.
