I know this has nothing to do with going green well it can do if we purge away all of our negative thoughts and let some goods ones sprout instead. So by planting a little seed of happiness I hope to make someone happy today who is feeling down or is worried about this that or the other.
I wanted to take some good chill out time and sing this song on Youtube which I love so much and wanted to sing for years on end but didn’t have the lyrics in my possession so enjoy it with me even if you think my singing is lousy. The beat is great and I love Mory Kante’s song Yeke Yeke so much I want to bounce around the house all day like a ping pong ball! There is nothing like letting off steam when the pressure is on, it’s either that or going down hill with depression and I don’t want that.
The Thames gateway Regeneration project is going ahead following green guidelines that will blend in Infrastructure with clean and and green spaces alongside urban living and working areas. Apart from providing new jobs and homes in the Area of the South East of the U.K, this project aims at going greener and taking into account Harmony with Nature alongside technically advanced living.
The Parklands Vision as it is known consists of various elements in its makeup which include green spaces and agricultural projects alongside hydro projects linking up the waterways. Creating and Aesthetically pleasing environment to live in with Green connotations is what will help make this long term living project a success both economically speaking and environmentally. There have been urban projects that have become disaster zones which were created between the 50’s and 70’s and the U.K has learned that amassing concrete jungles is not only an environmental hazard but also a failure for its Society at large so is now using a strong balancing act to create a life of calm and tranquility within a vibrant and bustling community drive.
China has a reputation of upping in pollution levels but there are so many projects that China that are beginning to slowly balance out the effects of Industrialized pollution so this is bringing new hope to Environmentalists and Locals Alike.
The Green Wall of China is a large project which after its construction is hoped will stop the sand storms from hitting Chinese cities that come through the Gobi Desert. Some critics are very skeptical about this idea and if it will really work in its entirety. Planting of trees can’t so any harm in my opinion and something being done is better than sitting with hands crossed and doing absolutely nothing.
Whatever happens we have to give some positive light and hope that more green and sustainable projects will sprout around our Troubled Earth in the hope that things will improve for future generations to come.
Muhammad Yunus of Grameen Bank in Bangladesh has inspired many people all over the World with his micro credit system of getting people out of immense poverty. Now other great leaders are adopting his system and modyfying it to the needs of the local people. Here is one such project taking place all over poor villages in Senegal and it is solid proof that just with a a few financial resources and team work miracles can happen and peoople can live out of extreme poverty and enter a world not only of prosperity but of harmony with itself and with Nature.
Setting up finding to keep people in self sustaining environments is a promising leap into a better future and can be the Model for things to come in developing countries.
Instead of using Globalization and mass migration into cities which not only causes more congestion but other socio economic problems people can adopt an Eco friendly lifestyle backed by the solid and stable growth of sustainable living systems. With the help of group coordination and micro funding the Senegalese Villages are getting themselves and others out of Povery and also they are becoming self sufficient without having to rely on hand outs just to survive. Just dishing out aid to poverty stricken areas is not the solutuion. Only Eco solutions using sustainable living systems can really work not only now but for future generations to come.

Turning trash into treasure is a recycler’s dream and we can all remember the good old days where hand made gifts were something we valued so highly. It is a good feeling to go back to these old fashioned ways in which we not only can have some creative fun but we can also bring so much love and warmth into our gifts and creations and at the same time save our Ruddy Planet! Well why not?
In the next few posts I will be bringing into life some lovely ideas and thoughts that can help transform your trash intoa Loved one’s treasure..or even something for yourself.
Keep in mind these items before you throw them in the rubbish bin or as my American friends call it..the trash can. I think back and forwards to NY has given me a good edge on the American lingo now so I can hop between each Dialect from across both sides of the Pond.
For now keep these items handy.
Paper
Cans
Cardboard
Boxes
Bottles
Make sure you also have a nice list of Friends and Loved ones and occasions where you might find each gift to give most appropriate. This will give you the inspiration to get cracking and get recycling. If you have other Friends who want to give it a go make a little party or get together where you can all make up some arts and crafts over a nice pot of tea and good company. If you have kids around than what better way to educate them into recycling values in a most fun sort of way.
I happened to stumble across a very interesting website about green homes and plans that work hand in hand with the Local Government which in the U.K is termed The Local Council. This Environment Trust is partnering with local councils to help provide both affordable and sustainable housing for its local inhabitants
There are different projects happening throughout the Country and this can just show us that if governments with local enterprise work together the desired and humane living conditions that we all deserve can come into fruition and not in 50 or 100 years time but from starting righ now.
You can see some of the wonderful and inovative new husing projects here which inthe long term will not only create a cleaner enviroment but will also be one step ahead in eradicating pvoerty for the lower end income earners as their utility bills will considerably lesson as here in the U.K many of its inhabitants are grumbling because of the spiralling cost of living and can you blame them?
I am fascinated with green projects around the World and will hopefully be scouring the Net to give you a taster on what is going on around the Globe to help catapult us into sustainable living practices. Whenever I read up on a new project or about some new Eco village that has sprouted up somewhere on the Planet I get an adrenalin rush that kicks in and gives me a goo doe of excitement.
One such project that is giving me hope is the Dongtan Project in China, just outside of Shanghai. This humungous attempt to ecologically house over 300,000 local inhabitants is by far one of the biggest Eco projects to come forth yet. Although many condemn China for its high level of pollution it is taking measures to alleviate this concern day by day and the Dongtan Building project is testament to this and as British Engineers will get into high gear in 210 when the project will actually be officially launched this will mean greater cooperation between Occident and Orient in all things green and friendly. There have been mixed reviews about it but at the end of the day a Green Dongtan is better than some old and murky coal infested city right?
